Elon Musk’s X, formerly Twitter, has told Irish politicians it is hiring more in-house content moderation staff as part of a restructuring of its trust and safety team, amid ongoing criticism of the company over online safety on the platform.

Officials from the social media company are meeting in private today with members of the Oireachtas media committee for a discussion about online safety, disinformation and content moderation.

It follows a Business Post investigation in December that revealed in detail how Musk, a free-speech absolutist, had watered down the company’s trust and safety policies since he took it over in October 2022.
