Tim Martin says gloomy forecasts have proven to be false
British pub chain JD Wetherspoon, which operates a number of pubs in Ireland, has reported pre-tax profits of £80.6m for the year to July 24, up 3.6 per cent compared with the same period a year earlier.
Revenue was up 5.4 per cent to just under £1.6 billion, while underlying sales – which strip out the effects of new pub openings – were 3.4 per cent higher.
