Unemployment drops to 4.2% despite recession alarm bells
Analysts said the labour market has remained robust amid some economic uncertainty
Irish unemployment fell to 4.2 per cent in February, down month-on-month but marginally up on one year prior.
New figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show 119,000 people were jobless in February 2024.
The overall unemployment rate fell from 4.5 per cent in January, but is up slightly from the 4.1 per cent figure measured in February 2023.
