Trinity defends INM partnership in free speech forum

Trinity College Dublin has defended its decision to partner with Independent News & Media to host a conference on freedom of speech by saying to do otherwise risks “heading towards totalitarianism”.

The event, which is being run in conjunction with the prestigious Columbia University, has been criticised by the Social Democrats because of the number of legal actions being taken by INM’s largest shareholder, Denis O’Brien, against media organisations, journalists and politicians.
