Trinity College Dublin’s legal team have blocked plans to publish a recording of a conference discussing how Ireland’s defamation laws are used to silence freedom of expression, because the college fears it could be open to a defamation lawsuit.

TCD has also refused to release a recording of the conference to Index on Censorship, the free speech NGO which organised the event, unless the group draws up legal waivers and obtains the signatures of speakers.
