Dee Forbes should still appear in front of Oireachtas committees to answer questions about controversial secret top-ups to Ryan Tubridy’s salary, the Taoiseach has said.

Speaking at a doorstep in Dublin castle this morning, Leo Varadkar said he still had confidence in RTÉ’s board, but that the revelations over additional payments made to RTÉ’s highest paid presenter were “disappointing” and people would have to be “held to account”.

It comes as Forbes, the suspended director-general of RTÉ, resigned from the Irish national broadcaster this morning.
