State fund to help businesses impacted by recent storms doubled to €11m

Increase in the size of support fund comes after businesses, voluntary organisations and sports clubs were hit by two major storms last year

The government is set to approve an extra €5.7 million in relief support for businesses, voluntary bodies, and sporting organisations impacted by two major storms which occurred in October and November.

Cabinet originally approved €5.3m euro for the scheme for businesses and organisations impacted by Storm Babet and Storm Ciaran last year. A memo to be brought to cabinet by Simon Coveney, the enterprise minister, on Tuesday would see that rise to €11 million.
