Soaring mortgage costs push Consumer Price Index up 6.1 per cent

The rise means that the index has now risen by more than 5 per cent for 21 consecutive months

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 6.1 per cent between June 2022 and June 2023 according to new data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

This was down from the 6.6 per cent year on year increase in May but is still the 21st consecutive month where the CPI has risen by more than 5 per cent. There was also a month on month increase of 0.8 per cent between May and June.
