Consumer Price Index rises by more than 5% for 20th consecutive month

Cosumer prices rose by 6.6 per cent in the year to May, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO). This marked the 20th straight month where the CPI has increased by 5 per cent or more however it was down from the previous increase of 7.2 per cent in the 12 months to April of this year.

Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels had the largest increase, up 16.4 per cent year on year. ...
