The owner of Tara Mines in Co Meath has been accused of “reckless” negotiating tactics after it emerged that the firm wants to reduce headcount by 200 people as part of a plan aimed at reopening the facility.

Siptu, the trade union, has said Boliden Tara Mines appears more interested in “public relations than negotiating in good faith” after it provided statements to the media on a new plan presented to staff yesterday.
