The Electoral Commission will need to be empowered to address deep fakes and disinformation which are likely to be a part of the coming elections in 2024, a Fianna Fáil senator has said.

Malcolm Byrne called again for the establishment of a special Oireachtas Committee on artificial intelligence (AI) and warned that Ireland was falling behind in regulating AI.
