Sabina Higgins undergoing treatment for breast cancer

Sabina Higgins, the wife of President Michael D Higgins, is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

According to a statement from Áras an Uachtaráin, the 82-year-old underwent a successful procedure as part of her treatment on Wednesday.

Higgins expressed her “sincere thanks” to the medical staff who have provided her with “such expert care”.
