RTÉ director of strategy resigns after Toy Show musical losses of €2.2m revealed

Rory Coveney, RTÉ’s director of strategy, has resigned with immediate effect.

It comes as incoming director general Kevin Bakhurst is to take up his role at the embattled national broadcaster on Monday, and amid speculation of a purge of RTÉ executives as early as next week.

On Sunday, Coveney said that he believed the “tough job” ahead of Bakhurst would be “made somewhat easier if he had a fresh lead team”.
