The founder of the Irish company behind a concert in Saudi Arabia has defended its event after R&B star Nicki Minaj pulled out, citing equal rights and freedom of expression concerns in the Kingdom.

Minaj was due to perform at last month’s Jeddah Worldfest, but cancelled and Janet Jackson headlined in her place.
