President Higgins ‘in excellent spirits’ in Dublin hospital

President Michael D Higgins remains in a Dublin hospital, having spent the night there, but is in "excellent spirits", according to a statement.

Higgins, who is 82, felt unwell at Áras an Uachtaráin, his official residence, yesterday afternoon and was taken to hospital as a precaution on medical advice.
