Planning rules to tighten for one-off rural housing needs

There will be a tougher approach to one-off housing in rural areas close to towns and cities under new planning guidelines.

The regional guidelines are intended to boost new housing development in key towns and cities and discourage one-off housing and urban sprawl.

The guidelines for the 12 counties in Leinster have been drawn up by the Eastern and Midland Regional Assembly (EMRA).
