WhatsApp’s European entity has been granted High Court permission to challenge the Data Protection Commission’s (DPC) fining of the company. In August the DPC fined the company, owned by Facebook, €225 million for failing to comply with a number of aspects of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

October was a party month in Ireland, according to Revolut, the bank services financial technology company. Pent up demand for weddings and religious services such as communions meant a 388 per cent increase on clothing hire and a 16 per cent increase on spending on bands, Revolut said. Spending in bars increased 12 per cent and fast-food spending increased by 10 per cent. The company has 1.5 million customers in Ireland.
