An Bord Pleanála has approved planning for a sizeable extension sought by neighbours of RTÉ presenter Miriam O’Callaghan, planning files show.

Her husband, BBC executive Steve Carson, wrote to Dublin City Council objecting to the plan last year, saying that he was very concerned about the proposed development next door to his and O’Callaghan’s Rathmines home.

The couple have owned and lived there since 1997, he said in a letter to council planners.
