‘No justification’ to make building industry pay €800m towards mica scheme

There is “no justification” for imposing a new €800 million levy on builders to help pay for a new mica redress scheme, the leading industry group has claimed.

Tom Parlon, the director general of the Construction Industry Federation (CIF), said the organisation was exploring legal options in the event of a new charge being introduced on builders as part of the new compensation programme.
