New labour laws ‘will add €4,200 per head to Irish firms’ costs’

Government measures to help workers – including increases to the national minimum wage – will add €4,200 per employee to Irish retailers’ annual labour costs, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has been warned.

RGData, a lobby group for retail operators, has written to Varadkar to complain about comments he made over increased employment costs facing Irish businesses due to increases to the minimum wage, extra sick leave and new pension rules.
