Micheál Martin public’s favourite to be next EU Commissioner

A little more than one fifth of voters back the Tánaiste for the role, with 20 per cent supporting current Commissioner Mairead McGuinness

Micheál Martin is the public’s favourite to be the next European Commissioner, according to a new Business Post/Red C poll.

Support for the Tánaiste and Fianna Fáil leader to become the next commissioner is 22 per cent, just ahead of Ireland’s current commissioner, Fine Gael’s Mairead McGuinness, on 20 per cent.
