A broadband levy to fund public service broadcasting would not be fair because “we don’t have 100 per cent broadband coverage”, the minister for finance has said.

Michael McGrath nevertheless said that 100 per cent exchequer funding was not the right solution, as RTÉ would be “at the mercy of the government of the day” which was “not a healthy relationship”.
