The party leader said there is a difference between unfair commentary and that which is defamatory

Mary Lou McDonald has defended Sinn Féin’s list of legal cases against the media, saying that defamatory remarks cannot simply be debated away.

During an interview with the Business Post, it was put to the Sinn Féin leader that in the ordinary course of political debate, politicians and parties have a public platform from which they can challenge what they see as falsehoods or inaccuracies about them.
