Man United supporters split over who should buy the club

A British businessman and a Qatari banker are said to be the final bidders, but the fans disagree about who is the best candidate

One of the biggest tasks facing any new owner of Manchester United will be uniting the fans, according to Andy Mitten, sports writer and editor of the United We Stand magazine.

The club is currently up for sale, with British businessman Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, a Qatari banker, believed to be the final two bidders.

“It is a divided fan base when it comes to the sale, it depends who you ask. If I did a poll on Twitter, it would be overwhelmingly pro-Qatar. If I did a poll behind a paywall on United We Stand or The Athletic did one, it is towards the Jim Ratcliffe bid,” Mitten told the Business Post.
