It’s official – Ireland has hit peak Penneys

The popular clothing retailer now has stores in 20 counties and is looking to evolve, update and refurbish them rather than open more

Penneys is “at its peak” in Ireland and will concentrate €250 million of investment over the next decade on its existing stores rather than opening new outlets, according to a senior executive at the group.

“If you look at our Irish business, we have opportunity to [physically] expand more stores. That’s what we’re currently looking at,” Damien O’Neill, head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland, told the Business Post.
