Capreit, the largest shareholder in Ires Reit, shed 10 million of shares on Thursday, bringing its stake down to 14 per cent.

The Canadian investment fund dropped its overall from 16.3 per cent overnight. This is the latest move from the investor, which has been significantly reducing its stake over the last month. It has dumped over 24 million shares, reducing its shareholding from almost 19 per cent of the company.

The move came the day after the state’s biggest landlord announced that former Quintain boss Eddie Byrne would be succeeding Margaret Sweeney as chief executive. Byrne will join the company on April 8 before taking over as chief executive at the beginning of May.
