Ireland failing to cash in on $100bn video game industry
Tax breaks have helped lure film and TV crews, but not the video gaming industry
At the famed Chinese Mann Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard on Friday night, Paul Young, the CEO of Oscar-nominated animation company Cartoon Saloon, and Norma Twomey, attended the premiere of what is likely to be their second Oscar-nominated production: The Breadwinner, an exquisitely made animation about a young Afghan girl who disguises herself as a boy to support her family. With Angelina Jolie on board as a producer, the addition of Hollywood star wattage to spotlight should further help draw attention to a film that is outstanding on its own merits.
