Intel’s Irish staff were briefed on cost-cutting plans at a company-wide meeting last night, following the chipmaker’s announcement that it will soon begin targeted job cuts.

The tech giant last night confirmed reports that it is to embark on an aggressive cost-cutting push in an effort to deal with a sharp decline in demand for PCs which has impacted on its earnings.
