Inspectors have been appointed to conduct a statutory investigation of the Peter McVerry Trust, the housing charities regulator has announced.

Last month, the Business Post revealed that the Peter McVerry Trust has alerted Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien of “potential financial issues” at the homeless charity.

Francis Doherty, chief executive of the Peter McVerry Trust, confirmed that the charity is facing cash flow pressures “more acute than would traditionally be the case”.
