Inflation steady at 9.1% in July as prices remain highest in nearly 40 years

New statistics show the cost of petrol, diesel and home heating oil are far higher than the same period last year

Inflation remained at 9.1 per cent in July, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the same level as in June but still the highest in nearly 40 years.

The CSO’s latest Consumer Price Index shows that prices have risen 9.1 per cent compared to July 2021.
