Ifac chair welcomes government U-turn on council pay cut

The government had proposed to effectively halve the daily fee to €377, but has since changed its position

The chair of the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council has welcomed a U-turn by Michael McGrath, the finance minister, on reducing pay for the role.

Michael McMahon said while he wouldn’t be going for the role on a permanent basis, he was glad to see the government had changed its position.
