Households could get cash incentives to ‘Beat the Peak’ in new ESB energy-saving plan

Households will be offered financial rewards for shifting their energy use outside peak hours under a new pilot to be launched next month.

ESB Networks will launch a pilot “Beat the Peak” in October to encourage electricity users to move some of their usage outside peak hours, as Ireland’s power system is projected to become increasingly fragile in the months and years ahead due to a mismatch between supply and demand.
