Housebuilding figures 20 per cent down on same period last year

With homelessness figures at their second highest on record, the government is under pressure to deliver on commencement rate

In the 12-month period to March 2022, construction started on 34,846 new homes, compared to 27,625 in the year to March 2023

Construction began on more than 3,500 new homes in March, but the level of homebuilding is still 20 per cent behind the rate recorded this time last year, a Business Post analysis has found.
