Government ‘holding feet to the fire’ across insurance sector amid soaring premiums

The government is “disappointed” that insurance premiums have risen in spite of a drop in claims costs and reforms in the sector, according to Dara Calleary, the junior enterprise minister.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1, Calleary said that the government’s reforms of the sector were “95 per cent complete” – and that the key ask of the sector had been delivered through transforming the risk profile of insurance.
