Government gave green light for High Court justice to engage with UAE court

Contact in 2018 led to controversial appointment of two former senior judges to Dubai International Financial Centre Courts

The government authorised a former High Court president to enter discussions with a court in Dubai in 2018, which led to the controversial appointment of two senior retired judges earlier this year.

The Department of Justice confirmed to the Business Post that a government decision in May of that year authorised the president of the High Court, then Peter Kelly, to enter into discussions with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts.
