Russell Horwitz is to succeed John Rogers as Goldman Sachs’ chief of staff - one of the most influential roles in the firm - as the Wall Street giant grapples with internal bickering and dissatisfaction in the ranks.

It is understood Rogers, who has reportedly been dubbed the “board whisperer” by some insiders, is remaining at Goldman as executive vice-president and secretary to the board.
