Garda takes High Court action over Gsoc probe

Allegations officer had forged letter to DPP in bid to ‘hoodwink’ her colleagues

A suspended detective, who was acquitted of forging a letter from the Director of Public Prosecutions, has launched a High Court action to stop a Garda ombudsman-led probe into her conduct.

Catherine McGowan, who was formerly based at Bray Garda station in Co Wicklow, was found not guilty in 2015 of forgery and using a false instrument in the course of an investigation into clerical sex abuse six years earlier.
