Agency not allowed to buy site due to ‘appalling’ government policy; agreement to spend €18m on fit-out of new German-owned building

The National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) and Nama are going to spend up to €175 million renting a new headquarters that could have been bought for €164 million, in a move that has exposed an “appalling” government policy.

The state agencies had looked at buying a building, but were told that it was government policy to rent new headquarters instead of buying them.
