Peter Mullan has been appointed as the new chairperson of An Bord Pleanála.

The former chief solicitor at the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) replaced Oonagh Buckley as interim chair of the planning authority last September.

His appointment as permanent chair was confirmed on Tuesday by Darragh O’Brien, the minister for housing, and approved by cabinet ministers.
