The Football Association of Ireland has asked for an extension of its €20 million emergency funding deal with the government, the Business Post has learned.

In a further sign of its strained financial position, the country’s national football body has written to the government seeking an extension of the funding package under which it has received €5.8 million a year since 2020 to stay afloat.
