ESB, the semi-state energy company, has posted record profits for 2023 as elevated energy prices and increased network charges drove revenues higher.

On Thursday, the energy company posted an 18 per cent increase in full year earnings (Ebitda) to just under €2 billion, as profit margins increased to a very robust 22.5 per cent.
