Ervia to be wound down and absorbed into Gas Networks Ireland

Ervia, the state utilities company, is to be wound down this year and its functions absorbed into Gas Networks Ireland, the Business Post has learned.

The firm was originally called Bord Gáis Eireann, having been established in 1975 as Ireland’s state gas supplier. It was split into two entities in the early 2000s, one which sold gas and one which built and managed the gas pipeline network.
