Electronics and motor sales drive retail rebound in January

In terms of volume, the CSO reported an annual increase in retail sales of 2.7 per cent

Consumers spent more on retail goods in January compared to the same month last year, according to provisional figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

The retail sales index for January showed that the value of sales rose 5.4 per cent from 2023.

In terms of volume, the CSO reported an annual increase in retail sales of 2.7 per cent.

Since January 2023, electrical goods saw the biggest growth in sales (6.1 per cent), closely followed by motor trades (5.8 per cent), other retail sales (5.7 per cent) and clothing, footwear and textiles (5.3 per cent).
