Eamon Ryan has said that he is expecting significant blowback as a result of his department’s wide-ranging traffic reduction strategy, but that it was the job of politicians to “persuade” people to buy into the measures.
The minister for transport said that “corrupt rezoning” had gifted the country a car dependent transport network, and that the general population is likely “fearful” of change. However, he said he hoped that the public will come around to traffic reduction measures when they see their benefits, he told Morning Ireland on RTÉ Radio 1.
