Direct provision system under more pressure after hotel fires

Nearly half of all people seeking asylum in Ireland still do not have access to their own cooking facilities, as pressure continues to grow on the direct provision system.

There are currently 6,227 people seeking asylum in Ireland. Of these, 48 per cent, 2,995 people, are not able to cook their own meals.
