Ivan Menezes, the chief executive of drinks giant Diageo, has passed away at the age of 63 following a brief illness, with his family at his side, the company has announced.

Menezes was one of Britain’s longest serving FTSE chief executives.

Diageo on Wednesday said Menezes transformed the company into the world’s leading premium drinks groups, which, it said, accounts for 10 per cent of the UK’s total food and drinks exports.
