Dublin City University (DCU) faces a large bill under the new land hoarding tax rules after its efforts to secure an exemption were rejected.

Local authorities have begun to notify land owners, some of whom face tax bills in the millions, if they have secured an exemption from the levy that will be 3 per cent of a site’s market value.
