Dart services to Wicklow town could be in place by 2026

Wicklow, which has had major population growth in recent years, is currently only serviced by infrequent diesel trains

It is intended to provide full electrification of the line between Greystones and Wicklow.

A feasibility study on extending the DART to Wicklow town is being undertaken by Iarnród Éireann, with the potential for the new service to be in place by 2026.

Plans to extend the electric train service beyond Greystones were included in the National Transport Authority’s (NTA) Greater Dublin Area Transport Strategy, which was published last month.
