A married couple have lost a High Court action over allegedly defamatory comments made to child welfare agency Tusla about their autistic son being imprisoned in the hot press for discipline purposes.

The allegations of violence were raised by their former landlord. At the time, the couple, who have two pre-teen children, were embroiled in a dispute with the property owner over her refusal to return a €1,500 rental deposit.
