Consumers more positive but still prudent around Christmas spending: report

The Credit Union consumer sentiment survey found that shoppers are a little more upbeat than last year

Consumers remain cautious around their levels of Christmas spending, but are slightly more optimistic than they were this time last year, according to the latest Credit Union consumer sentiment survey.

The survey found that 55 per cent of consumers intend to cut back on presents this year, compared to 62 per cent last year. Some 53 per cent will spend less on entertainment, compared to 61 per cent in 2022.
